It's The Simple Things in Life We Forget

The weekend started off on a low note with me being sick and having to work through it. I finally gave up the ghost, went home, and slept through till it was time to get up and go back to work the next day (Saturday). Most of the time I can power through a headache but when I realized I felt better with my eyes closed I figured I needed to make that happen for a full 8 hours.

Saturday I worked and then went to a BBQ held by my dad's fraternity. I always enjoy their bbq's and Babygirl gets to run around with other kids. There's always someone new and interesting to meet there. I was talking to a young lady who has a natural style and the talk turned to Dominican stylists and how straight and bouncy they get your hair. Plus, who doesn't like a free meal?

I think the best part of Saturday was when I did NOTHING. BFF and I went to Outback (I DARE you to say something about how unhealthy it is) because we just knew we had to have some cheese fries. It was good to just sit and talk to my BFF about hair, the haps with our friends, work, and men (She told me to make like Keycia Cole and "Let It Go"). She's the closest I have to a sister and she treats me like it. Another reason it was so great to sit and talk is because I'm usually running around with Babygirl, or at work, or running errands. We went home and sat on the couch and watched Idylwild. Weird movie but I loved it. I need more weekends like this. I've vowed that at least 2x a month I'll have a weekend where I do only lowkey stuff.

Sunday was just fantastic! I pulled myself out of the bed, reluctantly, to go running. I'm glad I did. I'll probably go again tonight when I get off work. Then I got all glam and went to church. The Holy Spirit was definitely in that place. I couldn't fully concentrate because Babygirl was in the sanctuary with me so I don't remember everything about the message, but it was amazing. The music, the message, everything.

I know it's early to be thinking about it right now but I'm hoping this weekend is just as good as this past one.

First!

Meaning this is my first blog on a forum such as this. I've done myspace blogs, but somehow it's not really the same. This feels more...real, I guess you could say. All over cyberspace for posterity!

There have been so many changes in my life recently. Life is all about change of course, but these are different. The way things fell into place can really only be attributed to God and the plan He has for my life.

First, I got a part-time job. It's not that I don't make good money, I really do, esp for this area. I was just tired of always WORRYING about money. So I got this job at my church and I'm thinking it's going to be decent but not great. Imagine my surprise when they offered me $5/hour more than I was going to ask for! I felt so blessed, esp since I was feeling like it was time for me to fly the coop.

Yep, that's right, I moved out! It's only been a few weeks but maaaaaaan am I happy! Estatic even! I am way too independent-minded, stubborn, hardheaded to be living with my parents, rent-free or not! So what if I can't drop $100 on new clothes, or run out to dinner with my girls every week. I can invite them over and not have to run it by my parents first!!!! I'm sure you can see from all of the exclamation points in this paragraph that I'm sooo happy :-)

And lastly, I've decided to "go natural." Yep, I'm gonna let my kinky locks come out and play. Part of my reasoning comes from my best friend D having gone natural. She has the cutest little curls ever. I don't have those, lol. Mine is more crinkly. The other part is just being tired of being a slave to chemicals and scraping together enough to get my wig done right.

Nevermind, this is the last: I cut my hair. Yeah I know, I know, WHAT?!?!!? I had to. I got braids for my Bahamas trip and they tore up my hair. I'm pretty pissed about it but it's actually kinda better since my roots are so....full, lol. It won't stay short like this because I liked my long hair.

Ok seriously, that's it!
